Story Telling/The Totoros Jan 15 2016

今回の英語学校での発表テーマは、「モーラルレッスン」。

モーラルとは、道徳的なとか倫理的な、という意味です。

最初、ショートストーリーとしか聞いてなかったので、準備していたものが

日本中の誰もが知っているであろうジブリ「となりのトトロ」でした。

映画の要約をしたのですが、後に そのままじゃいけないということだったので

少し捩ったオリジナルストーリーになりました。

なぜか、まっくろくろすけがカクローチ(ゴキブリ)になったり、

あの優しい父が出てこず、口うるさい(?)母が出てきたり

結局サツキはトトロに出会えなかったりするのですが(苦笑)、

メインのテーマは「約束は必ず守りましょう、

さもないと最終的にはひとりぼっちになってしまうよ」的な内容になっています。

There was a family. The family was looking for a new house, because there are a lot of cockroach in the other house that they live in. And finally they found a house in the forest. Away from the expensive and a lot of cockroach house that the family rented. But that time they didn't know that they were something unusual in that house.

One day, it was a very sunny day and it was very good for playing. The youngest child named May was playing outside and wants to see whats in the forest. So, she went inside the forest that is full of trees, and she saw a strange thing in front of her. It looked like an animal, a rare animal. That She haven't seen ever.

May didn’t know what to do/so/she run/back to their house because she was scared. And she was looking back to see if the strange animals is chasing her. But she saw the animal standing and looking at her. So May stopped and wonder. Why is this animal not chasing me? So its not a bad animal at all. So she went back, and that time May was happy. Because she thought that it was a bad ghost or animal but its not. She wants to know the Strange ghost like animal more.

Later, May saw the ghost moved slowly going further to the forest. And to her curiousity May followed the ghost. Even if she didnt know where is the ghost going. So she stopped and remember what her mother told her. `May, you shouldn't go to the forest, because there are wild animals that are living there. And they will take you'. But she still she followed and cute ghost. Until.

After moving for a few minutes, May was shocked because she saw another big ghost, similar to the small animal that she first saw. She was scared coz it was too big and scary. She stared for few seconds with shaking knees and hands. But, after staring on it. May asked the names of the ghost. `What's your name?' with a soft and shaking voice. The ghost answered "my name is small Totoro and this one is big Totoro". She was really happy and surprise that this big and small creatures have names.

After introducing their names they played. They played happily and May forget the time. She also forget that her mother will come home soon from work. So, May asked permission to go home because her mother and sister are now looking for her. And promised to play with them the next day. And the Totoros were very happy and expected her to come back.

May was rushing to go home, and she was very excited to tell the story to her family about the creatures that she saw and make friends with. She wants to prove them the story, May brought the family in the forest where the Totoro live. "C`mon mother, They migth be waiting. Hurry!". When they arrived in the middle of the forest and they saw nothing. Then they couldn't find the two Totoros that May told them. That time May's family was thinking that May was just imagining and Totoro's were not true and they are not existing.

So, they went back home, but May was still convincing her elder sister to go back and see the Totoro's family. But her mother told her that its too dangerous to go back because it gets darker and its getting late already. But her elder sisder didn't believe her and warned her not to go back to the forest again as well as her parents. May was very sad because nobody believed her and her parents don't want her to go back to the forest again.

But she was sad because she promised them that she will be back. And promise is promised. May sleep very late because she was thinking what to do. So the next day, May didn't listen to her family, so she asked her sister one more time if they can go to the forest and see the two cute totoros. But that time her sister doesnt want to go with her and doesnt want her to go back to the forest.

So May went back to the forest to see the two Totoros. So she went back to the forest alone again and again. May asked the Totoros "why they can't show to other people". The Totoros said "Only kids can see us. Because kids are born naturally good and have a good heart".

Moral lesson, If you promise someone, make sure that you can really do it. Coz promise is promise that you shouldn't break. Because if you break it, nobody will believe and listen to you next time... Thats all Thank you for reading.
